Rajinder Singh is an illustrious and renowned psychiatrist. Dr. Rajinder Singh has been rendering his services to patients with expertise, empathy, enthusiasm, dedication, and excellence since 2004. An exceptional and extraordinary psychiatrist, Dr. Rajinder Singh’s distinctive skill, dedication, and commitment have made him one of the few psychiatrists with national fame. His distinguished qualifications, MBBS from Panjab University, DPM from Pune University, MD in Psychiatry and alumnus of PGIMER Chandigarh, and, 30 years of meritorious service in the Army as a Senior Advisor, makes him adept in the subject of Psychiatry.

Having been the Consultant for International Red Cross De-Addiction Centre in Chandigarh and been in social service, running Dispensary (Polyclinic) in Gurdwara Sahib Sector 34 Chandigarh- where more than 35 specialist doctors were rendering free service before the Covid-19 pandemic started – his varied and rich experience remains a unique example of his selfless dedication and inspiration to all around him. Under his compassionate administration, more than thousands of families have benefited from treatment at both the Drug De-Addiction Centres. His extra-ordinary vision and fervour to bring about a change in the lives of the patients have taken the Drug De-Addiction Centres of The Kalgidhar Trust at Cheema and Baru Sahib to great heights. His untiring journey as a Volunteer with The Kalgidhar Trust is a beacon of hope for troubled patients and their anxious families. He also remains an outstandingly remarkable campaigner for the Drug Addiction awareness programme in Punjab. Dr Rajinder Singh is a celebrated senior psychiatrist who has a long string of awards, recognitions and honours to his credit. He was honoured with the “Award of Human Glory” by the SASIIT & R, Mohali; the “Contributors Award” by the current Medical Journal of India; “Award of Excellence” by IMA, Chandigarh, to mention a few. He has been a Life Fellow of the Indian Psychiatric Society and the Indian Psychiatrist Society (North Zone). His Fellowships with the Indian Association for Social Psychiatry and the Indian Association of Private Psychiatry of India add to his honours and recognitions. Dr Rajinder Singh also compiled two books on the prevention of drug abuse which have been published by The Kalgidhar Trust, Baru Sahib. The first book ‘Drug Addiction’ is of immense interest and use for the public, social workers, counsellors, psychologists, medical students, family physicians and NGOs working for the cause of addressing the issue of drug abuse. His second, latest book ‘Be Aware Beware of Drugs’ provides important information about various drugs and intoxicants commonly used by druggers. The book is of immense value for all those who are passionately interested to create awareness about the devastating effects of drugs and educate youngsters to beware of substance abuse.

Dr Sukhwinder Singh is a Medical Doctor at the Akal Charitable Hospital, Baru Sahib (H.P.) and Consultant Psychiatrist, Akal Drug De-Addiction and Rehab Centres, Cheema Sahib, District Sangrur (Pb.) and Baru Sahib, District Sirmaur (HP). Dr Sukhwinder Singh, an M.B.B.S. from Government Medical College, Patiala (Pb.) obtained an M.D. Degree in Psychiatry from the Albany Medical Centre (NX) USA and worked as Consultant Psychiatrist in a state hospital and psychiatry departments of various community hospitals and country out-patient psychiatric clinics in the state of New York (USA). Earlier, he had been Research Assistant in Schizophrenia Research at the Bronx Psychiatric Centre, Bronx (NY), USA. Prior to moving to the USA in 1988.

He also worked as a Medical Officer in the Indian Army Medical Corps (AMC), from 1978 to 1983, and as a Medical Officer in P.C.M.S. in Roopnagar (Ropar) district from 1983 to 1984 besides having worked as a private medical practitioner in district Sangrur from 1984 to 1988. Dr Sukhwinder Singh, a highly experienced medical doctor is a specialist in the treatment of psychiatric disorders and ailments associated with the drug addiction.

Dr Jasjit Singh Sodhi, Psychiatrist In-charge, Akal Drug De-Addiction Centre, Baru Sahib (H.P.), is an accomplished professional with 20 years of service in Border Security Force (CAPF).An M.D. in Psychiatry from Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, he did his M.B.B.S. from Government Medical College, Patiala. Among his major job experiences include 10-year experience of handling various psychiatric cases, including treatment and counselling of patients in OPD and Indoor at ISO certified 100-bedded Composite Hospitals of Central Armed Police Forces at Border Security Force Academy, Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh). And at Composite Hospital Kadamtala (North Bengal) for four years besides in J&K. Worked as General Duty Medical Officer for six years in various units, including high altitude of J&K as well as Punjab border.

Dr Jasjit Singh Sodhi’s skills include actively managing psychiatric and de-addiction patients, including treatment and counselling in the hospitals. He has the ability to handle difficult patients withcalm and composed mind. Dr Harmandeep Kaur carries extensive experience as a health practitioner, having worked with diverse individuals and institutions across various places. She have had worked as a Senior Resident in the Department of Psychiatry, Jaipur National UniversityInstitute of Medical Sciences and Research, Jaipur. She also worked as Senior Resident, Department of Psychiatry, Pacific Medical College and Hospital, Udaipur. She had a stint as Medical Officer at Airport and Border Quarantine Health Office, Amritsar, besides having worked as Female Medical Officer at Primary Health Centre, Mattewal, Amritsar, under National Health Mission. He is a professionally qualified psychologist having been trained and experienced in addiction treatment (C.M.E.P.S.), C.P.A.D.A. (N.I.S.D), and an Ex M.D.D.C.C. (Pb). An accomplished Psychologist and Counsellor with vast experience in managing patients with addictive disorders has been a great asset to the institution.

M.A., M.Phil., Ph.D. in Psychology

Dr C.B. Patil, M.A., M.Phil., Ph.D, in Psychology, with Advanced Diploma in Child Guidance and Counselling is working as a Senior Clinical Psychologist at the Akal Psychiatric Services and Drug De-Addiction Centre, Baru Sahib, Himachal Pradesh. He is also engaged in teaching Master in Public Health (MPH) students. He is actively involved in building collaborative approach to the subject of Drug De-Addiction by co-ordinating with various stakeholders such as psychiatrists, counsellors, psychologists, nursing staff and helpers in the ward.

He is responsible for building regular contact and trusts with the families of drug abusers and collects feedback from patients and their families regularly, following up with the patients after their discharge through regular calls.
