The Kalgidhar Trust Observes World Mental Health Day 2025

We feel glad to share some of the press clippings of extensive media coverage of the World Mental Health Day commemorated on October 10, 2025 at Gurdwara Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib, Sector 34-D, Chandigarh.

The event showcased expert talks on emotional, psychological and social factors responsible for mental health status of an individual, besides protective factors that serve to strengthen resilience. Relaxation techniques were explained that contribute in decreasing stress and anxiety.

Dr (Col) Rajinder Singh, Director, Akal Drug De-Addiction Centres has been the main host speaker. Dr B.N.S. Walia, former Director, PGIMER, Chandigarh, Professor Emeritus (Pediatrics) at the Advanced Pediatric Centre, PGIMER, Chandigarh, was the Chief Guest of the event.

While Dr H.K. Bedi, consultant psychiatrist and Dr Ranjit Powar, psychologist, writer, podcaster and commentator were the other eminent speakers; S. Hardial Singh, IAS, founder, “Sarab Rog Ka Aukhad Naam” mission and S. Harpal Singh, founder and chairman, Bhai Jaita Ji Foundation, Chandigarh were the Guests of Honour.

The occasion was graced by Hon’ble Baba Dr Davinder Singh Ji, President, The Kalgidhar Trust, Baru Sahib, while Dr Neelam Kaur, Adviser, Healthcare and Education, The Kalgidhar Trust, Baru Sahib proposed a Vote of Thanks.

The event featured the launch of the book titled “Rewiring the Brain for Wellness” authored by Dr (Col) Rajinder Singh. The book contains natural remedies to common mental and emotional disturbances like stress, anxiety and depression through various practices like yoga, mindful meditation, physical exercises, breathing techniques, listening to good music etc.

A studio “Chardikala” was also set-up at the venue, aimed at promotion of mental health. A 24X7 helpline number +91 9805098716 dedicated to counselling services for the flood victims was alsolaunched.
